Desmond Station Collinsville goes to Auction on Thursday 2nd September 2021, 11am at the Opal Ridge Motel, Stanley Street Collinsville.
This 4,051 ha (10,010 acres) of freehold country is located 36 kms north of Collinsville and 112 kms southwest of Bowen.
Desmond has been destocked since September 2020, and currently has a good body of quality cattle feed.
With undulating country rising to hills and running off onto flat arable black soil and grey loam flats that is surrounded by higher accessible country and ridges. Predominately black, brown, and grey loams with scattered areas of red sandy soils on the northern boundary and waterways.
The timbers on the property consist of Narrow Leaf Ironbark, Bloodwood and Gum with a very small presence of Quinine, Currant Bush and Wattles. The timbered country is consistently in the valleys and waterways, with scattered timber throughout the property with areas of cleared open country.
Grasses include Indian Couch with good covering over a large percentage of the country. Other grasses include scattered areas of Buffel, Urochloa, Forest Blue, Black Spear, Kangaroo and many species of useful natural grasses. There are areas of established Seca Stylos and Townsville Lucerne.
The Homestead is set in established gardens and is located adjacent to the southern boundary. The weatherboard construction with cladding has an iron roof with timber floors and consists of 4 bedrooms - all air-conditioned, recently renovated kitchen with a walk in pantry, two bathrooms - one recently renovated, lounge, and dining room. The shed at the house has concrete flooring. There is power connected, a cold room and a backup 12 KVA diesel generator wired into the house. Other improvements include a 4-bay steel machinery and hay shed, horse yards with milking bail and loading ramp.
The cattle yards are steel construction with small sections of timber, a covered drafting pound, calf race, crush and loading ramp. The yards are maintained, and cattle work well. Water is connected via an adjacent bore and tank. The yards are located on the middle eastern side of Desmond at the end of the laneway system with road train access off the Blue Valley Road.
The property is safely watered by bores equipped with solar submersible pumps to poly tanks and troughs. Yearly average long-term Collinsville recorded rainfall is 705 mm or 27.7 inches. Desmond Station has natural semi-permanent water holes and springs and is considered well-watered.
The current owners have an access agreement with Sun water for an allocation of 8 meg of water from the Burdekin to Moranbah pipeline , this allocation is not transferable upon sale, and it will be up to the purchasers to arrange access to this water if it is required.
The property has 6 paddocks plus 4 holding paddocks and watering squares. Fencing is predominately 3 barbs on steel posts and is well maintained and in good order. A laneway system services the property connected to the cattle yards.
Desmond Station is in the highly regarded Collinsville District in North Qld. The property has consistently produced quality cattle and offers the flexibility to target all livestock markets.
